Our story
Rhode Island, Beautifully Wrapped
Ocean State Trading Co was born from a simple belief: the best gifts come from people who care about where they live.
How it started
I grew up in Rhode Island, surrounded by makers, farmers, and small-business owners who pour their hearts into what they create. When I started looking for a gift that truly captured the spirit of this place — something beyond a souvenir magnet or a generic basket — I couldn't find one.
So I made one. I reached out to the vendors I already loved, filled a wicker basket with their best products, tied it with a navy ribbon, and gave it to a friend moving out of state. She cried. That was the beginning.
Ocean State Trading Co is a one-person operation run out of Cumberland. Every basket is assembled by hand, Most of the products are sourced from a Rhode Island maker, and every order ships with a handwritten note.
Our mission
To celebrate Rhode Island's makers, artisans, and small businesses by putting their work in the hands of people who will love it — whether they're from here or discovering the Ocean State for the first time.
